I’m happy to be back online with a new web page. My name is Teresa and I’m a photographer and image editor from Spain. Right now, I live in Madrid but I have lived in Galicia, Brussels, and London too. Oh, London! I love London. I’m going to try and express myself in English just to share my opinions with a wider audience. I’ll do my best, please be patient with me I love taking pictures as much I love meeting new creative people and I also adore traveling.
Last week I read a post by a very well known Spanish male photographer a little concerned about the lack of compromise of the agencies he used to work with. Promises not fulfilled, not calling you again… He’s about a decade older than me and he is a true master but.. what about us women? Is it more difficult for us in this business? I know it could sound like a western woman of the 21st-century problem…I mean, not a huge problem compared with the outrageous lack of liberty or human rights for many, many women out there, but here, we are just focusing in this society and industry. According to Fashionista, only a 13.7% of the fashion editorials are shot by women, considering fashion a business mainly focussed on girls (not older women, but that’s another business), are we mainly represented by the vision of men? Are advertising and editorial works the result of teamwork with a mixture of different gender visions? What can I say? I normally work with women but I have no problem working with men as well, and I find the difference is with the person, not the gender. And what about age? If the […]
When I started shooting as a freelancer, style in fashion and beauty was so different from what it is now. People liked airbrushed skin, high key lights and high contrast, dreamy images… it was the time for Grace Coddington’s amazing art direction. Nowadays, the game is quite different, even the most retouched images are much more natural in general if we talk about advertising…There are some exceptions, of course, you can see the work of Roversi or Nick Knight, etc… These days, for fashion, young people and street style is the most popular trend, in my opinion, the kind of photography we had during the first part of the ’90s with the Grunge and the CK ads, but less technical and even more spontaneous, less…pricey We never had better technology for image creation but we never had so much image saturation. It’s quite difficult to stand out nowadays but creating for different media is more exciting than ever before. Great times for creativity difficult times to making a living…Well, all that…it is only my vision of it 😉 Feel free to reflect on it.
